"Middy" is our 11 year old Morgan/QH cross. He is a smooth ride and has a gentle disposition. He is our trusty steed for trail riding or novice riders. I also use him as my English Pleasure mount for local shows. He is Dan's primary mount and is safe enough for our daughter to ride.
"Okie" is 32 years old. He is an Appendix QH straight out of Oklahoma. This horse is the life and heart of the farm. I've owned him since I was 11 and he was my first 4-H rodeo horse. I stopped racing a few years after highschool but decided to start racing again about 8 years ago. We were winning consistently for a rusty pair past our prime. We were the 2006 KalVal Saddle Club women's speed division champion.
I retired him from contesting in 2007 due to his blindness from cataracts, which was causing him to stumble more and we shared some nasty spills. He continued running a consistent first and second in the women's local speed division up until our last run. He is still used for trail riding although he is a spitfire full of energy always ready to run. He has the most personality of all the horses; nickering every morning, and kicking up his heels and galloping like a colt throughout the pasture. He is the herd leader, the others look up to him to guide the way and even though his vision has faded, he will still outrun the younger geldings when given the chance.
"LeRoy" is our newest member as of February 2010. He is a 16 year old, retired roping horse and trail horse deluxe! He is a big stout bay gelding, with tons of heart and plenty of energy. He has already settled in quietly on the farm, and is super gentle. We look forward to hitting the trails this Spring!
